"We will all attend the 8 o'clock mass. That's what obtains here every Sunday. So why are you not ready?" Tony, Nwamaka's husband asked Obioha.

"I prefer the 10 am mass. This 8 o'clock mass is too early for me" he replied.

"But I told you last night that we will all attend the 8 o'clock mass today."

"Yes you did, but I prefer the 10 am mass" he returned.

"I wouldn't want you to be out on your own much of the time. This is a busy city and you don't really know your way around here," Tony said.

"I can always find my way, I am not a baby.
Obioha insisted as he sat cross legged in the sitting room, not caring a hoot about what Tony or any other person felt about the whole issue. Tony turned to his wife who was standing by the door fully dressed for mass. She carefully avoided his eyes and turned towards their children, Tony Jr, Henry and their daughter Ruby, all ready. Tony looked in their direction, and observed that the children were watching the little drama.

"Go and wait for me in the car, I will be along soon." They went out. He turned again to his wife who refused to meet his gaze. After a moment's hesitation, he quietly picked up his car key, walked past her and made for his car.

Nwamaka stood watching Obioha, who continued flipping through the magazine he was holding without caring about what was going on. Suddenly, it dawned on her that she was scared of this boy. She discovered she could not even reprimand him for his conduct. As she stood with these thoughts in mind, Tony honked the horn of his car. Immediately, Obioha looked up at her, she flinched from his stare and rushed out of the sitting room.
