Hello Feathered Friends Community. Let's all welcome Round 274 of the Show Me A Photo or SMAP Contest hosted by . Check out the contest post here and come join us in the fun of hunting bird photos.
The theme for this week is:
As I mentioned a few SMAP Rounds ago I was able to visit the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, Manila Zoo for short, last March of this year. The last time I went there was more than 20 years ago. I was very excited to see the aviary section to see the different Feathered Friends over there. Here's one I saw.
This bird is a young male Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus), also known as the Chinese Pheasant. The pheasant pictured is undergoing a "hard molt," a natural process where it sheds old feathers to grow new ones. This explains why it appears to be scruffy and a bit dull from its usually vibrant coloring. When it regains its full plumage, this is how it looks.
What a big difference. For this Round the photo below is my entry.
And that's it for this one. Hope you like it. Stay safe and may you all have a blessed Sunday.
