Like a cobra ready to strike its prey,
Like a falcon ready to take flight in the day,
Like a river ready to swallow up its fishes and whale,
Like a congregation we pray,
It will rise.
The land of our fathers,
The land where they gave birth to our mothers,
The land that will not hid from justice, the murderers,
The great land that begat our Great-grandfathers,
It will rise.
It is rising already,
We need to prepare and be ready,
To adapt to changes and innovations coming our way, such as are many,
Even if the traitors and enemies of this land are plenty,
Still, it will rise.
Nigeria, our dear native land,
A country we all cherish as our canaanland,
Constituted of tribal societies, nations, chiefdoms and small bands,
We shall rebuild and make you better with our hands,
And verily, you shall rise.
With anger and fury shall you drive out all the evil bands,
Confiscating your people with their evil wands,
Swallowing them and putting them six feet below the sand,
Celebrations will sweep across from Kaduna to Banana Island,
For surely, you shall rise.
