Hey there Hivians,
I still consider myself a novice to the game, so buying a "Mystery" or Quest potion that cost roughly 1,188 DEC or 742.5 DEC respectively didn't seem that appealing. After, reading some success stories I finally bit the bullet and bought a Mystery Potion yesterday which I was able to use today.
Upon opening the Mystery Potion, I was disheartened at first to receive a Quest Potion.....Basically means I just overpaid about 400DEC for a quest potion. Not a great start!
I then proceeded to complete my daily quest in order to utilize the Quest Potion to receive 5 additional chests.
This is when I became a believer :)
The untamed pack alone more then compensates me for the cost of the Mystery Potion I used. Everything else is just a bonus!
Now to opening the Untamed Pack....
Now if you don't know the first rule of figh....I mean pack opening, ALWAYS make sure you have at least 5 Alchemy Potions AND 5 Legendary Potions. This way each card has an increased chance of being a legendary and/or gold foil card. Thanks for this lesson 
My results:
So, my dear Hivians, lets recap:
- Purchased a Mystery potion, which got me a quest potion.
- Quest potion got me an Untamed pack, 1 Alchemy potion, 2 Legendary potions, a Sand Worm, and 60 DEC.
- The Untamed pack gave me a Luminous Eagle, Sniping Narwhal, Herbalist, Gold Foil Goblin Thief, and an Ice Pixie.
As you can see from my calculations below, after everything was said and done, I made roughly 744 DEC from this transaction. Given, the prices used were the lowest market rate for a single card at the time of this post and the assumption that I could have sold everything for that rate.
I technically would have been much better off had I not opened the Untamed pack and sold it instead. Assuming I could get 2000 DEC for it, plus the savings of not using 5x Alchemy and legendary potions each, I would have profited roughly 2,241.6 DEC. That being said, this was a great learning experience AND a blast!
