Every now and then, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presents itself. When it does. What do you do? We garden gnomes hold a contest. In this case, it's a farmpunk contest.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of which we speak is the opportunity to roast our turkey friend
@quillfire. We like Quill. Mostly when we set him on fire. And that's why we're inviting you to help us set him on fire.
The bad news is this: You only have one more day to enter the contest. Then you're toast.
How the Farmpunk Contest Works
Garden gnomes like to keep things simple. That's why we only soil our pants in the garden. It's also why we like standing in the rain. We'll save that story for another day.
To participate in this contest, here's what you have to do:
- Write a 1,000- to 3,000-word story on the theme (see below) and post that story to your Steemit blog.
- Post a link to your story in the comments of this post.
- Tag your post #farmpunk.
Theme:
As you write, incorporate farm culture, high technology, and punk ethos. The deadline is when the original contest announcement post pays out (tomorrow).
What the Flip is Farmpunk?
If you've never heard of farmpunk before, that's okay. It's fairly new. It involves three things:
- Farm culture
- High technology
- Punk attitude
Think of it as cyberpunk on a farm. Any historical epoch is fine as long as your story contains the three necessary qualities -- farm culture, high technology, and punk attitude. If you need samples, check out these previously published farmpunk stories:
- Altland's Gambit (by the originator of farmpunk)
- Racioppa's Revenge (by farmpunk's originator)
- The Rusty Robot (by
@calluna, farmpunk contest #2 winner)
- The Strawfolk (by
@ediblecthulhu, farmpunk contest #4 winner)
The winner will receive 5 Steem Basic Income shares. Do your best work, and may the best punk win.
How about a little weird lit?
