Hello everyone. Was feeling murderous today. So, i thought i'd rewatch Dexter.
And, to my surprise, what do i find?
There's a new Dexter series.
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!?"
I say "new", but it came out in 2021. How i let it slip is out of my understanding. I was, and am a big Dexter fan - i guess other shit got in the way, and i totally forgot.
Glancing through the Google results, to make sure it had Michael C. Hall in it, at least. And it does. This mean more Dexter! They even managed to get Debra in the picture.
Not like MacGyver, where they re-cast some newer version of him - can't studios either continue the IP with the original cast, and not make the new episodes suck, or make something different? cough Two and a Half Men cough
Sheesh!
Or should i say, Sheen!
I glimpsed one of the new Dexter's episodes' description - because i want to know nothing of the new show prior to watching it - and it says something along the lines of "Dexter and Harrison (his son) try to lead a new life".
And it clicked.
Son + "New Blood".
They probably wanna continue the series with Harrison and kill off Dexter, repeating the same shit that happened with Dexter, flashbacking to his father.
Started watching, and in a few minutes i was fucking excited! The old Dexter, no signs of his son; they wanna keep the original Dexter in play!
And five or six episodes in, and it seems they'll focus on both, father and son, which is also great. Ease us in, at least, if they plan on replacing Dexter with Harrison. Good Showtime! Good boy!
Anyway, if you enjoyed Dexter and haven't watched "New Blood", i vouch for it. And while there's only one season, the second one is bound to be released this year still.

EDIT: I've now watched the entire season - and unless the next season turns out good, i DON'T recommend watching this New Blood thing. And keep re-watching Dexter. There's a main story fork in the ending that didn't make sense, and SHOULD have. Deliberately non-sense to fit the continuation of this show.
Disappointing ending on it's own. I expected much more. It was lame. No Dexter after all.
Bad Showtime. Very bad.
