Sometimes things just come together nicely; As if plans were made, actions taken and results achieved in perfect harmony - That wasn't the case today; The result was just happy coincidence but I'll take it - Beggars cannot be choosers right?
I'd decided early on to set my feet upon paths they have not trodden previously and to find something new to look at. It was a decent day so I'd also have the chance to soak up some of the lovely warmth from the sun on what was otherwise a cool day. I found myself wandering around in a pretty nice spot some forty kilometres from home. Like I said, new paths to tread, sun to soak up and nature to surround me.
The happy coincidence was that there was a small pond, a billabong I guess we'd say here in Australia, and thanks to the pristine blue sky and still water I was able to grab a few reflection shots; Reflection hunting by default. A gift from nature as such.
Below are some images with the first being my favourite. I've shown the wider angle shots too giving perspective to the first, and I guess proving that the scene was real and not computer generated. I'm no photographer but am happy with how these came out.
This is my favourite. It shows the flowers [don't ask me what they are] with the trees and sky reflected in the surface of the water. The sunlight hitting the water looks like clouds reflected in the surface too, although it was a completely cloudless day; Sort of cool right? I focused on the flowers here to blur the background a little - I like that look a lot.
This next image shows a slightly wider shot of the same thing - You can see the trees reflected in the water and, again, the sunlight sort of looking like reflected clouds.
Here's the wide shot showing the whole scene. Those flowers were only in a small section which is why I chose to shoot there and luckily the whole scene from that angle looked pretty good. Happy coincidence again.
I managed to take some more but I'm going to save those for another post sometime however I think these paint the picture pretty well. I wish I could tell you what those flowers are though. Not knowing isn't working well with my passively OCD nature so if you happen to know what they are please feel free to educate me.
I had a reasonable day today; A sleep in, toast spread with Vegemite, a coffee then the drive over to this area where I wandered about until early afternoon. It was relaxing and great to get my feet upon paths I'd not walked before.
In between a few hours of walking I took some time to sit about and think, and also not think too, which was valuable from a soul-perspective; You know, find some peace, a central point within and hold onto it. That's so much easier for me to do when I'm in natural places with fresh air and the sounds of nature around me. I had lunch to, but that's for another post sometime.
I hope you've had a good weekend so far and your Sunday goes well also. Thanks for taking a look at my post and all the best.
EDIT: The red flowers are called Kniphofia or more commonly, tritoma, red hot poker, torch lily and poker plant. They are native to Africa. [Now my OCD can rest in peace.]
