Just as I thought. I'm always careful to not to make bold statements about places I don't know much about although I have heard some fairly alarming things about Venezuela from some that live there, more of what you mention in your comment. The thing is, that people just don't have the experience to base their opinions on...I mean, if I told people here in Australia that in March they would not be able to buy toilet paper, and would be locked down in their households they would have called ma a crackpot! And yet...Here we are. Until people see and experience things fist hand it's difficult for them to have a clue...And so they protest about people having guns. If they were living the realities of a corrupt government, or violent organised and random crime and where an unarmed population, it may be different.
