You're right, they're probably not designed to do a lot of work. I wear R.M. Williams boots, I think we talked about this before. Leather soles and all. I have them lined prior to wearing them to protect the soles. It works a treat. I bought my current pair in 2016 and wear them almost daily, weekdays. They look like almost new.
