Some calibres are overkill and as someone who has shit a lot I focus on the right tool for the job.
I knew a guy who had a need to have the largest most rediculous calibres he could find. (probably had a small dick). He was the worst shot though, couldn't hit shit. We called him Howie (to his face) as we always joked that even with a Howitzer he'd not impact the target.
I'm not saying it's not fun to shoot heavier calibres from time to time, but I've seen them be the reason someone can't shoot effectively and for me there's no reason to do it without the expectation of hitting the target and being able to follow up quickly if one doesn't.
I have fired a 30-40 Krag, only a few rounds. It's not common here, certainly not as common as the .303 SMLE. It's always nice to shoot something historic though.
Those boots man, I'm so pleased you like them. I love mine and wear them so much but I always worry people will buy things I suggest and then hate them.
