It's pretty tragic that people have to suffer PTSD and through the sorts of things he has been through. Also, the Hitler youth as well as many were pressed into service with little choice, especially towards the end of the war. Although many, especially in the defence of Berlin, were true believers and a bullet or bomb was the only way to get them to stop. It's all pretty terrible though and such a shame that he felt shamed at his service. I understand though, a lot is asked of a person in war that they may never conceive of doing in peace time.

Those concentration camps, the young enemy and the day to day rigors of war...I hope he found peace at the end, he deserved it.
