When I go to the small towns around Australia I always stop in at the War Memorial, often raised by the locals, who fund-raised the money to build them. It's rather sad to see the names, often three or four from the one family. For a small country like Australia (population) it was a devastating war, but it was that way for all really; Both sides as well.
