The Broncos headed north this week to take on the North Queensland Cowboys but had no choice but to leave three key players on the sidelines with injuries. It didn't bode well considering the calibre of players unable to join the fray and with both teams on a 3 win and 2 loss tally the game made me nervous.
Star fullback Reece Walsh has a fractured cheekbone and eye socket (for the third time) and will miss around six weeks. Adam Reynolds will miss two weeks due to a groin injury and his replacement on the field last week, Ben Hunt, will be out for six to eight weeks with a Grade 3 MCL knee injury. All three are gun players and the Broncos will miss them.
The Cowboys dominated the first half with solid free-flowing ball movement but didn't get it all their way as the Broncos held them to only a small lead. The Brisbane Broncos are second half specialists and clawed back into the lead with some inspired play however the Cowboys were simply too good for them on this occasion.
It was one of the best games of the season with big tackles, solid gameplay and some amazing skills but it didn't go the way of my team unfortunately.
