Many people underestimate rooks. They are loud, too black. But I love these birds. If you look at them, they are so funny and very beautiful. Some eyes are worth something and a powerful light beak is good. Now, in the fall, rooks endlessly search for food in the foliage. In autumn there is a large open space full of grass seeds. Also, not all of the acorns were eaten. The trees are covered with red rowan. Rooks also enjoy this berry. When they find something edible for themselves, they may not immediately peck at it. They often hide food in their hiding places. I always wonder if they will find out later what they buried and in what place.
On this sunny autumn day, many rooks diligently dug out leaves on the ground with their powerful beaks. And this rook in the photographs indifferently sat on a tree branch and did not notice them. Rook was all in his thoughts. Even I didn't scare him off with my camera. Which is rare.
I was lucky that the rook turned out to be so dreamy. And he sat in a good, beautiful place for the fall. The weather was good too, with a blue sky shining through the branches. This created a beautiful backdrop for the photo.
Another rook on the other hand found just a tasty treat for himself. He just wanted to peck it, when the other one flew off the branch and immediately to him. But the rook with food immediately flew away. Apparently he didn't want to share food with a friend.
And a little further, after a few meters, other rooks quenched their thirst in a small puddle. Yet they are beautiful and glorious birds.
I thought it was a rook in this photo. But now I doubt it. I looked closely at the bird - its beak is not light, like that of a rook. It can be assumed that this is a black crow. But I doubt it too. In our area, I met only a raven with gray plumage. I've never seen black people. The bird was sitting very high, I hardly saw it. I managed to take only two such pictures, as she immediately flew away.
Thanks to everyone who looked at the birds in my photos.
