Someone believes in fate and somebody does not. Anyway, the fate of the main protagonist in the Unknown Fate is unknown, and his past is unclear. And answers to all questions should be hidden in the bizarre world that you will ideally transfer to a virtual reality, but you can do it without it. It is clear, however, that the game is primarily intended for the VR (for example, in the form of space-based texture aids), and the design of the individual levels is especially enjoyable with this technology.
But it is also not bad when playing in a traditional way with the image on the monitor and with the mouse and the keyboard or gamepad. Control is quite easy, but especially in the absence of a VR, jumping is quite inaccurate, and you will not be able to pay for failing to overcome obstacles. If the falls were somewhat dramatic, the checkpoints are tiny, so you'll be restarted somewhere near you, only unnecessary failures can make you nervous. Worse, manual storing is impossible, and autosave only starts at levels that flow smoothly into one another. So when you jump out of the game and come back to it again, you can repeat a good piece of your tortured feast.
The game as such is not very extensive and you will see the final titles after four, not more than five hours. So you can do it all at once or for two evenings. However, you will, at the end of the game, occasionally annoy you with annoying bugs. Once you can not use your skills after a short predel scene and only restart the game, it will not be a pleasure. Especially when the aforementioned situation occurs when you have to repeat a long stretch of travel.
At first you do not know who you are, but you are gradually acquainted with the real world events and the motifs that appear strange, surrealistic. With a linear journey, you will learn mystical guards, masked figures, and white revelations that lead you to the truth, or you can try to get you out of the right path. It's a shame you can not decide who you will trust and who to follow. This could result in two or more endings. However, there is only an embarrassing finale waiting for you, which will unsatisfactorily overwhelm your drive and will not even make it clear.
The core of the game is the abstract levels that blend dream dreams, black and white scraps of memories, and fantastic scenes. Locations are very unusual due to the presence of objects and motifs from reality that are embedded in the environment. For example, in mysterious landscapes you will unexpectedly see office desks with computers. Or you will discover the door that will take you for a moment into the specially formed rooms of your house. These objects do not appear to occur in the form of enormous formations around which you walk or after them and jump like on the platforms. You will encounter gigantic pencils and cigarettes, mega-tape tapes and videotapes or velvet umbrellas and clocks with a dial. Especially it can impress in virtual reality.
Playability as such is quite easy and simple. You discover the appeal of a wonderful universe and find ways to get ahead. At the same time, it helps you with an artefact that you gradually build and adds new skills. The first one allows you to hit labeled objects, which then move to a designated location, and usually create part of the transition or platform through which you skip somewhere. In addition, you can also hit enemy beings, which you disable with three - four shots. It is such a very primitive form of struggle in which you are already using only stunning, which is the secondary mode of the first ability. However, opponents appear rarely, are not essential in the game, and serve only as a minor advancement in the process.
Using the other ability, you can transfer and place any specific objects and others to rotate, which is appropriate for tilting the platforms or for forming the projections. Finally, you will also learn to shoot round spheres, which then activate and serve to temporarily slow down moving benches and other objects. Artefault's abilities are actually tools to solve the undemanding puzzles, which are the game's all-pervading play. This way you adjust your surroundings, manipulate matter, or adjust the light rays. However, these are not complicated and the solutions are mostly obvious. Do not expect any bigger challenges that you might have to think furiously about.
In the case of graphics again, you will appreciate it especially in virtual reality, but it does not look the worst even in the traditional view. Do not get special effects or top processing, but especially the design of individual sites that take the form of modern artwork. The sound is modest, and it is just as sweet to complete your own scenes that come out from you and watch them from the perspective of the first person.
Unknown Fate is a short esoteric drive aimed at discovering new stimuli and sites of extravagant universe. For a reasonable price. Only simple tasks, hopping and manipulation of surrounding objects are required from the player. Do not expect from it any challenging and not even deeply elaborated. It is mainly about feelings and impressions when going through unusual environments. And obviously primarily focused on impersonating virtual reality.
