Greetings to all, fellow craft lovers. Since relatively recently I have been interested in Origami, researching on the subject and seeing what kind of origami can be made. Precisely I came across the type of origami that I will show you today, 3D Origami.

Although the other type of Origami could also be considered 3D, with this technique you can not only make flat and folded pieces, you can also make round and much more complete figures using origami blocks to assemble them and these blocks are made with normal paper, the same you would use for conventional origami, for example.

Saludos a todos, compañeros amantes de las manualidades. Desde hace relativamente poco estuve interesándome en el Origami, investigando sobre el tema y viendo qué tipo de origami se puede hacer. Precisamente me encontré con el tipo de origami que les mostraré hoy, Origami 3D.

Aunque el otro tipo de Origami también podríamos considerarlo 3D, con esta técnica no solo puedes hacer piezas planas y con dobleces, también puedes hacer figuras redondas y mucho más completas usando bloques de origami para armarlos y estos bloques se hacen con papel normal, el mismo que usarías para el origami convencional, por ejemplo.

To make these origami "blocks", you must take your sheet of paper and place it horizontally, then fold it in half, making a vertical fold in the middle of the hour, as shown in the image. Then you must make two more folds, until you create eight vertical columns on the paper.

Para hacer estos "bloques" de origami, debes tomar tu hoja de papel y colocarla de manera horizontal, luego doblarla a la mitad, haciendo un dobles vertical a la mitad de la hora, tal como se observa en la imagen. Luego debes hacer dos dobleces más, hasta crear ocho columnas verticales en el papel.

In the same way, the same process is done but horizontally, folding the sheet in half twice, creating four horizontal columns and superimposed over the vertical columns we did before.

De igual manera, se hace el mismo proceso pero de manera horizontal, doblado la hoja a la mitad dos veces, creando cuatro columnas horizontales y superpuestas sobre las columnas verticales que hicimos antes.

In total, after making all these folds, we will be able to obtain 32 rectangles to make the origami blocks.

En total, después de hacer todos estos dobleces, podremos obtener 32 rectángulos para hacer los bloques de origami.

Each of these rectangles must be cut out, using scissors or whatever tool you like best. Each square is a block, so cut them all out.

Cada uno de estos rectángulos hay que recortarlos, usando una tijera o la herramienta que más les guste. Cada cuadrito es un bloque, así que hay que recortarlos todos.

Once we have the rectangles we start making the blocks. The first thing to do is to place the rectangle horizontally and make a horizontal double.

Una vez tenemos los rectángulos empezamos a hacer los bloques. Lo primero que hay que hacer es colocar el rectángulo de manera horizontal y hacer un dobles también horizontal.

The next step is to fold the same paper in half, only vertically, this is only done to mark the middle of the rectangle.

El siguiente paso es doblar ese mismo papel a la mitad, solo que de manera vertical, esto solo se hace para marcar la mitad del rectángulo.

At this point, fold inward one side of the paper, leaving a triangle in the middle, as if we were making a paper boat.

En este punto hay que doblar hacia adentro una pared de los lados del papel, dejando un triángulo en el medio, como si estuviésemos haciendo un barquito de papel.

It will look like the image below. The bottom folds that come out on top of the triangle should be folded at the side corners, as shown in the image.

Then, these two folds are also folded upwards.

Nos va a quedar como la imagen que ven abajo. Los pliegues inferiores que salen encima del triángulo se deben doblar en las esquinas laterales, tal como se observa en la imagen.

Luego, estos dos pliegues se doblan también hacia arriba.

The last step is to fold the whole piece in half, so these small paper blocks will be ready to make origami in 3D.

Lo ultimo es doblar toda la pieza a la mitad, así quedarán listos estos pequeños bloques de papel, para hacer origami en 3D.

Note that each block has two small holes on the bottom. These two holes are used to anchor the other pointed side of the "block", as shown in the image below.

Fíjense que cada bloque queda con dos pequeños agujeritos en la parte inferior. Estos dos agujeritos sirven para anclar el otro lado puntiagudo del "bloque", tal como se ve en la imagen a continuación.

With this type of blocks you can make complex and interesting shapes. I call them blocks because they are just that, like building blocks and it is at least interesting to sit at the table and create different shapes with these small pieces.

Con este tipo de bloques se pueden hacer formas complejas e interesantes. Los llamo bloques porque son eso, como bloques de construcción y es cuando menos interesante sentarse en la mesa a crear distintas formas con estas pequeñas piezas.

You can even create a sword if you sit down to create pieces with enough time and patience...

Incluso puedes crear una espada si te sientas a crear piezas con suficiente tiempo y paciencia...
