Sin dudas las ferias de libro, de comic o convenciones siempre son lugares geniales a donde muchas personas van a exhibir sus libros, colecciones o sus obras de arte. Como bien saben, si han leído mi blog últimamente, tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la Feria Internacional del Libro de Venezuela (Filven). En esta feria, entre otras cosas, tuve la oportunidad de conocer a unas artesanas muy simpáticas con las que pude conversar largo y tendido sobre temas de interés sobre las manualidades y el arte.
Aquel par de mujeres que tenían su propio stand en la feria se mostraron muy amables cuando en un comienzo me acerqué. Aunque yo estaba lejos, en otro stand donde exhibía libros, me tomé el tiempo de visitarlas para ver más de cerca todas las obras de arte que tenían expuestas.
Como dije, me recibieron muy bien y me mostraron todas las cosas que tenían a la venta. Realmente era un stand muy hermoso, pues a simple vista saltaba artesanía relacionada con la ciudad, pues tenían un arco de San Felipe El Fuerte, un lugar que tuve la dicha de visitar hace relativamente poco.

Without a doubt, book fairs, comic fairs or conventions are always great places where many people go to exhibit their books, collections or artwork. As you know, if you have read my blog lately, I had the opportunity to attend the International Book Fair of Venezuela (Filven). In this fair, among other things, I had the opportunity to meet some very nice craftswomen with whom I could talk at length about topics of interest about crafts and art.
Those two women, who had their own stand at the fair, were very friendly when I approached them at first. Even though I was far away, in another booth where they were exhibiting books, I took the time to visit them to take a closer look at all the works of art they had on display.
As I said, they received me very well and showed me all the things they had for sale. It really was a very beautiful stand, because at first glance I could see crafts related to the city, as they had an arch from San Felipe El Fuerte, a place I had the joy of visiting relatively recently.

También me encontré muchas decoraciones con la bandera de mi país, como mariposas pintadas con el tricolor de Venezuela, o instrumentos artesanales también adornados con estos colores. Lo curioso es que todo estaba hecho por ellas, lo que me hizo pensar que realmente hay mucho talento, así que me animé a comentarles que yo también era un escultor. Ellas se asombraron y de inmediato preguntaron qué esculturas hacía yo.
No dudé en mostrarles algunas colecciones de mi blog aquí en hive, en donde incluyo figuras de mis secciones "Challenge to Gabo" o "Learn With Gabo".
I also found many decorations with the flag of my country, such as butterflies painted with the tricolor of Venezuela, or handmade instruments also decorated with these colors. The curious thing is that everything was made by them, which made me think that there really is a lot of talent, so I decided to tell them that I was also a sculptor. They were amazed and immediately asked what sculptures I made.

Después de que vieron esto, me mostraron específicamente algunas esculturas que ellas también habían hecho y que tenían expuestas en el stand.
Me resultó interesante que, a diferencia de mi, no se concentraban solamente en un material moldeable o que se pudiera esculpir, no, unas de sus esculturas estaban hechas de una fruta que se conoce como Lufa, pero aquí en mi país le decimos limpión o estropajo. Era interesante las formas que le daban para crear, por ejemplo, un pequeño ratón de esta suerte de esponja vegetal.
Por supuesto, también tenían algunos collares y llaveros hechas con piedras, pero me atención se inclinó hacia las esculturas. Por ejemplo habían unas esculturas bastante interesantes que servían como decorativo para lapiceros.

I found it interesting that, unlike me, they did not concentrate only on a moldable material or one that could be sculpted, no, some of their sculptures were made of a fruit that is known as loofah, but here in my country we call it limpión or estropajo. It was interesting the shapes they gave it to create, for example, a small mouse of this kind of vegetable sponge.
Of course, they also had some necklaces and key chains made with stones, but my attention was drawn to the sculptures. For example, there were some quite interesting sculptures that served as decorations for pencils.
Pero sin dudas, una que llamó mucho mi atención fue una escultura de la cabeza Bob Marley hecha en una semilla de Mango. Como ven, se pueden crear esculturas con los materiales menos esperados, esta escultura de Bob Marley es una prueba de ello. Solo basta verla para sentir gran admiración por las talentosas manos de estas dos artesanas.
Desde luego, no perdí la oportunidad de tomarme una foto con ellas e intercambiar contacto. Sin duda será una gran oportunidad poder compartir conocimientos y vivencias con otros maestros artesanos de mi ciudad.

But without a doubt, one that caught my attention was a Bob Marley head sculpture made from a Mango seed. As you can see, you can create sculptures with the least expected materials, this Bob Marley sculpture is proof of that. It is enough to see it to feel great admiration for the talented hands of these two artisans.
Of course, I did not miss the opportunity to take a picture with them and exchange contact. It will certainly be a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with other master craftsmen from my city.
