Cuaima?...A qualifier of gender-based violence.

Hello howdy beautiful women of this beautiful community of women ladies@ladies of hive, there are so many topics to write about in this community so important that it is worth posting.

One of those topics that makes me a lot of noise is the blessed term "CUAIMA", yes .... The one that men use all the time to refer to all women because unfortunately most of them have generalized and even movies use it, we women laugh at this disqualifying term, perhaps we do not realize that it is a term of gender violence or perhaps, we already assume it as a way to make jokes.

From my perspective, this term is disqualifying, which is why it is gender violence. In this sense, I inquired about its origin and its meaning is not at all encouraging, for example The Real Academia Española defines it as:Very smart, dangerous and cruel person.source

On the other hand, another online tool gives the meaning: Cuaima is known as a derogatory adjective of Venezuelan origin that describes women who are jealous and controlling of their partners. It is a colloquial expression from Venezuela used to describe women who behave like thissource.

As you can see, this type of colloquial language has already become a saying that disqualifies women because it involves all of us, which I consider an insult to Venezuelan women, although it has become popular throughout Latin America.

Now, in my opinion, this is a psychological type of gender violence that is based on a situation of inequality where male domination over women predominates, and although it is done in a jocular way, it is not right to use such a pejorative term when addressing a woman.

This situation reminds me of a coworker who used to refer to his wife with this term, once his wife came to the office for a particular situation and the coworkers started joking saying "Look, Cuaima is looking for you, she is out there waiting to beat you up" and they all started laughing.

I remember I said to my companions, "Why are you expressing yourself that way about a person you don't know, that is gender violence and you, my dear friend, should not allow them to express themselves that way about your wife". Everyone was silent and he went out to greet his wife.

However, this adjective is a reference to another pejorative adjective that bothers men a lot: "submissive". From there we must analyze the discomfort that men feel when they are called *sometido", that is to say, it is the same discomfort that women feel when they are called *cuaima, because the adjective *sometidos" is not very blessed either, let's see: Adjective. Said of a person, who cannot make decisions freely and must subordinate himself to another person generally of higher hierarchy and in many cases having to tolerate abusive behaviors of this one. What do you think?

Based on what I have written above, I believe that the two terms gender violence should not be applied to our loved ones, especially the woman who is the constant fighter of the family, to whom society or the culture of the country where she lives has assigned a role too committed to the home, I think she should be respected and valued.
