RE: The weather is turning cooler - finally - bring on the rainy season !
ive heard that the weather is almost exactly the same where you live compared to here. There are a lot of people that used to live here but now prefer to live here and they say this is because of visas.

that's a fun way of putting it. I don't think there is a country round these parts that has "good" weather. The people living in cold countries like to come here to roast though. Those of us

well it is a nice place to visit but not without its annoyances. I think the good outweighs the bad though.

RE: Quick weekend trip to Japan.
While I haven't done it yet, I have always wanted to visit Japan. Lately there are some discounted direct flights from where I live. maybe I should pull the trigger and get my butt over there.

RE: Mark: The type of expat everyone wants to leave
wow, that's tragic. Fortunately for me I have never heard of things like this. There are frequently fights in the tourist zones though and lots of videos of regular melees

when in Rome, do what the Romans do. That is the statement. I'm not saying that there are no drunken Vietnamese lunatics, I'm sure there are some of them. But Mark is a different beast. he has no shame,

I think Mark would learn absolutely nothing from a beatdown. A threat of deportation would probably do the trick though. Or maybe just deport him for real.

RE: Da Lat: A place to beat the heat in Summer of Vietnam
99% of Vietnam is "too hot" in my opinion. If it wasn't cheap and had easy visas, I don't think very many expats would live here.

There's a couple of mountainous places that are cool year round and the one in the north called "Sapa" actually gets a reasonable amount of snow as well. There isn't much indsutry in either but

RE: Vietnam tightens grip on "tracking" foreigner whereabouts starting 15-September
well everyone likes money, and the tourism sector in Da Nang is experiencing vast growth that i think is too fast. If they want to have longevity in this, they need to be quite careful with how much they

the sad reality is that the only way that any of them can get that good is to probably break some laws along the way.

oh right. the commercial stuff I do not like. It's like when the streets makes something popular commercial interests are going to come along and do it until everyone hates it. That does look really good

well tags do require a great deal of talent but they are still just so common that they are easy to get bored of. The average person couldn't possibly do one but a lot of people can, so they are boring.

I remember someone talking about that especially in Penang where they turned it into a beutification project all over the old city. The cynic in me thinks they just didn't want to properly clean up the

RE: The Workshop in Da Nang, Vietnam. A different kind of pub
an Indian friend of mine said this about Indian food "if you look at anyone that is above lower middle-class in India, they are all overweight or fat. That's all you need to know about Indian food."

I do like these things sometimes. For the most part they are banned in Da Nang and they have to keep moving or the police will shut them down. I'm not disappointed about this because the roads and sidewalks
