While it would be very tempting to go all-in in crypto, I think that the current uncertainty regarding regulations and the overall economy shows us that it is not the best time. I think your approach with the five years seems reasonable but I would maybe add another 2-3 years on top to be safe. My plan is jsut to Dollar Cost Average in over the next years and hope that the crypto markets will see a constant adoption.
