After the immense succes of the first Serious Request in the Netherlands, the second edition was in 2005. The glass house was placed again in Utrecht,in the middle of the city square (Neude). This time the cause of the fundraiser was the situation in Congo:
Armed militia groups committed awful atrocities towards other tribes and a lot of children became victims. See a complete transscript of that story here:

So the theme and slogan became: "Red een kind in Congo"; translated as "Save a child in Congo". The three radio DJ's to be locked in to the glass house abstaining from eating for a week were Giel Beelen, Gerard Ekdom and Wouter van der Goes.
The total amount that was funded in 2005 was: € 2.203.549,-, more than double the amount of the first edition! This was caused by the Dutch parliament who discussed this fundraiser in The Hague and decided to add another one cool million euro's to the funds already raised by the general public.
The anthem of Serious Request 2005 was 'Multiply' by Jamie Lidell. Such a cool song, with such cool vibes, even after having heard this tune maybe over a 1000 times, this song never becomes boring!
