In my experience, I have a deadly fast fist blow that ends with one of us on the ground, usually not me :D

Admittedly I have never had to defend myself against a kickboxer, and doubt I would.. because most skilled fighters do not wish to fight, it's only a last resort as a means to defend oneself.

It's never a good idea to fight someone who pleads with the assailant to reconsider while standing their ground.

Unfortunately I have a criminal history because of assailants. The winner in a fight is oftentimes considered the assailant in the court of law.
