I harbor a deep appreciation for the fine arts and all things "vintage". I love finding bargain deals at thrift stores, both with clothing and also faulty electronics that they practically give away that I know I can fix :)
It took me about one hour to consume your post, and luckily I was also consuming my favorite German "Schogetten" chocolate with coffee when I saw that mouth watering display of treats from the Verona pastry shop, otherwise I would have been unsatiatingly salivating. (No, unsatiatingly is not a word, but today it is.)
I admire how you tailor your own clothing with specific vintage eras in mind. You have a deeply methodical and meticulous nature about yourself, as well as a great depth of consideration with how you present yourself.
There is a certain comfort and appreciation in consciously performing the slow ritual of dressing and make-up. The costuming - how one presents oneself to the outside world - takes on a greater awareness. At least, that's how I see it from my perspective today.
I feel this way when it comes to shaving and preparing to leave my apartment. Some people say I take too long, but.. I don't care. I'm consciously aware that I take much longer than other people to prepare to leave, but if I rush, I will surely forget things and likely have some anxiety.
A look I call "Billy of the Hills".
That one made me laugh out loud :D I believe we refer to this look as "Hillbilly" in these parts ;)
There are certain phrasings I also do this reversal thing with lol, really wild to know someone else who does it as well.
I like the 70's look and the Billy of the Hills look on you. I could almost see an intertwining of the two looking really cool, unless you have specific rules to how you do this :D
I like how well you manage that thick bodied hair, and the 20's look is really working well for you :)
This is very rare footage and I never saw my parents themselves in those young years. They were all simple labourers and worked for the first half of their lives as farmers in self-sufficiency as well as by supplementary income in agricultural enterprises. The fancy hairstyles belied the fact that they did not care for glitz and glamour and had only occasionally been up for dancing and going out.
You come from a very good looking, and far from simple family, despite them working simple jobs to survive. Thank you for sharing the nice photographs of them, I enjoyed reading about your mother and how she went to great lengths to keep you all safe during your uncertain childhood years.
I read over the post link you provided to get a greater insight into this childhood story of yours. The family you come from must have been very intelligent indeed to overcome everything you all went through.
This explains a lot about your deep thinking, which no doubt is also a family thing.
Great post @erh.germany, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
