You mentioned a lot of really great points here!
It's interesting to witness that some people work a lifetime for a retirement, some find one early, some even suffer disaster and have been scammed out of their retirements because of corrupt practices like you mentioned.
I agree that if corruption is spotted and evidence can be provided, it's a citizens duty to uphold what is just. If someone is abusing a position of authority, this is quite a crime.
The last point I would like to say is what I think about retirement.
I see retirement as a societal goal that when achieved brings on a sense of happiness and accomplishment. These states of mind can be reached in the harshest of settings and is the ultimate retirement. It's difficult to describe, but nothing is guaranteed in this life, so contentment and gratitude for the blessings we can recognize is the ultimate path for a wholesome life :)
