This beautiful animal that I had the good fortune to photograph left me surprised. At first I thought it was a bee, but to my surprise when I look better I realize that it is a fly.

Investigating a little I could verify that it is a syrphid, Episyrphus balteatus. At first glance it may look like a wasp or a bee and it looks like they sting. Now, with those big eyes that give her away you can see that she has the face of a fly.

Why does a fly want to look like a bee? The answer is very simple to pretend that it can bite and protect itself from many predators and gives it an advantage over other insects, this is known as Mimicry.

It was a pleasure for me to be able to observe this beautiful specimen in the foreground and investigate a bit to learn more about its behavior.
