Hello my loving Splinterlanders,

I'm a Publish0X user and loves reading every 'Share your battle challenge' posts. I always had a wish to write one myself. So, here I am. Writing my very first weekly battle challenge post. So, bear with me..

It's a dark night, 12:50 am and raining outside. A perfect weather to play Splinterlands. Lets go then..

Dragon splinter is my second favorite splinter (after Water splinter) for it's versatility. I mean you can always use the monster from other splinter, even if you don't have much of a collection of dragon monster. I have 9 cards rented from Peakmonsters only from Dragon splinter.

As we can see. it's a low mana cap battle. I only got 16 mana to complete my team. Also, there's no neutral monster I can use in this battle.

Summoner:

Camila Sungazer

For this low mana cap battle I'll definitely use Camila Sungazer as a summoner. Because in every team, there must be at least one melee attack monster.

And when I use this summoner, all melee attack monster have -1 melee attack. So, that'll be a huge benefit for this low mana cap battle.

Team Lineup:

1. Corpse Fiend:

Although I can't use my most used card Furious Chicken, I can definitely use Corpse Fiend. A zero mana Death monster, with 1 melee attack, 2 speed and 1 health. It's a perfect card to take the first hit or a first attack.

2. Cursed Windeku:

Cursed Windeku, a 6 mana cost death monster with 2 melee attack, 3 speed and 9 health. Additionally, the thorns ability is a great combination with Camila's -1 melee status.

3. Gold Dragon:

Finally, last but not the least, Gold Dragon, our battle winner of the day. A bit of high mana cost of 7, a 2 magic attack Dragon monster with 3 speed and 8 health. The flying ability of this monster, which certainly helped me to win this match. I'll discuss about this later.

So, that is my team line up. Lets go to the battle.. shall we?

My opponent used Level 1 Thaddius Brood as a summoner, Cursed Windeku as a tank, following Death Elemental, death monster with snipe ability, an Undead Badger with sneak ability and Carrion Shade. The team has all setup to destroy my back-line. But, oh boy, I have just perfect monsters against the opponent team and surely have health advantage over him. Sometimes, you should choose quality (in this case high health, high mana cards) over the quantity. And my opponent did it wrong here. And now, the battle begins....

Round 1:

Ting ting ting.. the battle started now.

At the start of the round, both the teams gets summoners benefits. My opponent gets -1 melee attack and I gets -1 magic attack and -1 health. It would be deadlier if I had use maximum monster cards with low stats. Because then a single attack would be end of that monster card. Luckily, I have high health advantage.

At the end of the round 1, I lost my Corps Fiend, as I thought so. Opponent team still has all of the 4 cards. Lets proceed to round 2.

Round 2:

Starting round 2, opponent's main tank card Cursed Windeku already at its last stage and only require an attack from my monsters (or he can attack too, in both cases, it'll be dead anyway). My Gold Dragon ducked one attack, thanks to its high speed and flying ability. Otherwise, the battle would be more intense. Now, it's the final round..

Opponents Cursed Windeku and Death Elemental both got destroyed one by one at the start of the round 3. Now it's two against two battle. Undead Badger made a suicide attack to my Cursed Windeku, dealt one melee damage and got destroyed by thorns abilty. Now, the final card of my opponent, Carrion Shade. Same happened to this monster. With a final attack on my Cursed Windeku, both cards gets destroyed, leaving the Golden Dragon survived.. what a legend..

So, that's it. We have a winner.

It was a relatively short (only 3 round) battle. The result could be opposite if the opponent use the Bone Golem (or any othe monster with Void ability) along with Cursed Windeku and a 0 mana card.

In my opinion, it's always preferable to use a void ability card as a tank when you use Thaddius Brood as a summoner, for obvious reason.

So, the question here, did my strategy work, or I will try differently next time?

The answer is, yes the strategy worked well. As I stated earlier, you should use a combination cards. There must be synergy between cards. Just like I did, Camila Sungazer and Cursed Windeku. And, one 0 mana card is must (or two). It really works in this types of low mana battles.

Dragons.. it takes my thoughts to prehistoric ancient era, whenever I hear the this name..

Yes, literally every time. I always fantasize about the Dragons. Till now, I try not to miss a dragon-based movie, whether it's animated or real. The movies I watched till dates are Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, Shrek, Reign Of Fire, How To Train Your Dragon Part 1 & Part 2, Dragonheart, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, you name it..

So, yeah, I like dragons and being fantasize about them.
