After looking through my recent photography posts, I've noticed something about the subjects I usually photograph. Most of them are actually quite mundane. They're not famous landmarks or breathtaking landscapes. They're simply the things I come across in my backyard, at the garden, or wherever I happen to be walking.
Today's photos are no different. I came across some dried leaves, delicate flowers, fresh-looking foliage, and a few flower buds that haven't opened yet. These are ordinary things that people might easily overlook, but I found them interesting enough to stop and take a few shots.
What I particularly enjoy about these subjects is how their textures and shapes become more interesting when photographed in black and white. The dried leaves, for example, have rough surfaces and curled edges that become more pronounced with the right lighting and contrast. Meanwhile, the flowers and buds offer a softer appearance that is equally appealing.
I've been doing this kind of photography for months now, and surprisingly, I'm still not bored.
Of course, there are occasional days when I feel tired or don't have much motivation to take photos. However, I somehow always manage to find my way back to it. I guess that's what happens when you genuinely enjoy a hobby.
It also makes me realize that we don't necessarily need extraordinary things to make our lives interesting. Sometimes, all we need is the willingness to appreciate what's already around us.
Photography has taught me to become more observant and appreciative of the little things that nature has to offer.
Maybe I'll continue doing this for as long as I can manage. As long as there are interesting subjects around me, I don't think I'll ever run out of things to photograph.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these simple black-and-white photos.
Have a good day ahead!
