I have noticed these days that people love to say something to do with the supernatural or the church and then broadly announce in capitals, italic, underline or bold (or all four) that they are “NOT RELIGIOUS!”
Well, neither am I.
I am a Christian who goes to church, but I don’t follow rules and rituals. And I don’t have to either - I am saved by grace. And the Bible states that we don’t have to do religious things to please Him and be saved. It’s already done. God sent His son into the world as a sacrificial lamb to bear our sin and to die for us so that we can have eternal life with Him.
So we don’t have to make offerings, we don’t have regularly say a routine prayer at a certain time of day, we don’t have to look and dress a certain way or eat specific food. There’s a lot we don’t have to do, but we do.
All we need to do is accept Jesus Christ as the sacrificial lamb who came to save us and to live for God. Pray to Him whenever you need to or want to. The same with worship – sing to Him and give thanks whenever and wherever you want. The more you get to know God and experience His love, the more you will want to do this.
But if you miss a day (or days) of no prayer and praise, God will not whip you and force you into repentance! Remember He loves you! And you might feel like you had a bad day or that He’s not with you, but He is and He just needs you to welcome Him.
Psalm 24
A Welcome for God into the Temple
A psalm of David.
24 The earth belongs to the LORD, and everything in it—
the world and all its people.
2 He built it on the waters
and set it on the rivers.
3 Who may go up on the mountain of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy Temple?
4 Only those with clean hands and pure hearts,
who have not worshiped idols,
who have not made promises in the name of a false god.
5 They will receive a blessing from the LORD;
the God who saves them will declare them right.
6 They try to follow God;
they look to the God of Jacob for help. Selah
7 Open up, you gates.
Open wide, you aged doors
and the glorious King will come in.
8 Who is this glorious King?
The LORD, strong and mighty.
The LORD, the powerful warrior.
9 Open up, you gates.
Open wide, you aged doors
and the glorious King will come in.
10 Who is this glorious King?
The LORD All-Powerful—
he is the glorious King. Selah
