Does God Answer Prayer?
Yes He does. He may not answer it the way we want, but if the prayer is good for us and will glorify God He will answer it the way we want.
I like to compare my relationship with God to my relationship with my five-year-old daughter. She’ll ask for something and her reasoning is ridiculous like asking for a sweet just before bedtime. I’ll tell her “no”, she’s just brushed her teeth and the sugar might keep her awake for a while. To my daughter my reasoning might sound equally absurd, but it really makes sense to us grownups. It’s the same with God, we might ask for money because we don’t earn enough but He knows us better than we know ourselves and if He provides us with more money, we may spend more and then again not have enough. So sometimes He answers “no” also.
We might also wake-up not feeling good and we pray for healing, but the rest of the day we still don’t feel good – almost like God has ignored us. But we must look at the reasoning we do not feel good – maybe we got drunk the night before?
If I think about my daughter, my husband and I love her so much, even when she drives us crazy. It’s the same with God, we don’t always see it and realise it, but He loves us so much! (John 3:16). Sometimes my daughter does show us her love and when she does I am so delighted.
We were made to live for God and to worship Him. We can’t just want and then expect to get, if it’s not for His glory it won’t do us any good.
Try to live for God – it will only do you good now and for eternity.
Amos 4:12-13
13 I created the mountains
and the wind.
I let humans know
what I am thinking.
I bring darkness at dawn
and step over hills.
I am the LORD God All-Powerful!
