Happy #FungiFriday everybody. I'm sharing some of my favorite fungi finds from this past week. Happy hunting this weekend!
Violet Coral (Clavaria zollingeri) - I was really excited to find these. Beautiful deep purple color.
Orange Coral, possibly Ramariopsis crocea, or it could be a jelly coral? Not sure and they are not closely related groups though similar looking...open to suggestions :)
A white coral. I'm unsure on this one too but there were many fruiting bodies scattered about.
I'm thinking this is Bisporella sp., a saprobic fungi on dead hardwood logs.
A closeup of a puffball, Lycoperdon sp.
Found this "Devil's Dipstick" while walking to get coffee. Mutinus elegans is the name.
My first Northern Tooth (Climacodon septentrionalis). It was huge.
Here you can see why it is called the Northern Tooth. It is a toothed fungus with many hanging teeth-like spore structures.
Another stinkhorn species, why not? This is Ravenal's Stinkhorn (imagine having a stinkhorn named after you 😂) Phallus ravenelii.
A Tylopilus sp. bolete.
Some small Hen-of-the-Woods (Grifola frondosa) which I left to grow a little more. They were also my first ever on my own!
