I found this Ganoderma down in South Carolina on a trip this past week. It was still young but I never saw this growth habit/form before with the small stalk and disc at the end.
The iNaturalist 'computer vision'/machine learning thinks it is Ganoderma curtisii or Golden Reishi but I'm hesitant to call it that.
Anybody have any thoughts or clues? Unfortunately I cannot go back to the location and see how these grow. Thanks!
