Two students from Primary 5 (11 years old) were tested with Covid-19 positive last week in my school.
As a result, the Ministry of Education has instructed my school to go into full Home-based Learning for two weeks to prevent possible spread of the virus among the students.
There were professional cleaning personnel that came to clean the school thoroughly.
Teachers in my school were only informed on Sunday(25 July 2021) when there were two confirmed cases.
I am currently teaching a graduating class of 12-year-old kids. It is natural for us to feel lost as we are concerned that we are unable to prepare these kids effectively due to the shortage of time.
The good thing is the whole nation had gone into lock-down last year for two months so many of us had experienced in HBL now.
Google Classroom
In my school, Google Classroom is the place where pupils get to find out their daily work for all subjects.
Some teachers may get pupils to submit their work directly into Google Classroom while other teachers may direct them to learning platform to complete certain tasks.
I learned how to use Google Classroom from scratch when the nation went into lock-down.
Learning is a never-ending process even for teachers.
Koobits For Math
My school has subscribed to an online platform called Koobits that allowed us to assign Math online work with the option to choose the number of easy, medium or hard questions.
It has recently embarked into a new interface from the previous limited topical worksheet to customised mixture of questions based on teachers’ selection.
I had to learn how to use the new interface but it is definitely more beneficial for revision.
War Against Covid-19
The whole world is fighting a war against Covid-19 and it has affected our way of lives as well as our economy.
From last year, Covid-19 mainly affected adults to the current that affected even kids.
Even the virus made changes, we need to change to fight a good fight.
