The world is changing and many would lose their jobs when machines can replace what they are currently doing more effectively and efficiently in future.
About 25% of jobs would be replaced with automation by 2030 in Singapore.
There could be 800-million jobs lost globally if we do a logical calculation.
Education is one of the best ways to equip future generation with future skill demands of future jobs.
Even though Singapore is known to have one of the world’s top education systems, it recognizes its lack of innovative spirit, entrepreneurial zest and survival instincts in the current system.
The ministry of education hopes to align classroom education to workforce needs by adopting the Swiss system in classroom study and apprenticeships.
Under the skills future initiative, all Singaporeans above age 25 years old are given about $400 to be used for their own selected course to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
Human resource is the main success factor for the future success of Singapore.
It is therefore logical for Singapore to ensure that its education system can align itself with the future workforce demands.
