This giant robot statue stands 18 meters tall in Shin-Nagata, Kobe, Japan. It’s called Testujin 28.
No matter how tall you think you are, standing close to it makes you look almost like a dot. Maybe you can hardly see me in the photo but I’m actually there. Haha! When I stand on the outskirt of the robot, I’m almost as tall as it’s shoe and I’m about 165cm tall. The particular position in this photo makes me appear “taller”.
On that particular day, I went there with my kids. My younger kid was really scared and started running away from the statue. He said, “Mommy, it’s scary!”. He almost started crying. I consoled him and told him that the statue will stay where it is. “It won’t move”, I said. Shortly after that, I started thinking, “what if this robot really decides to start walking in our direction?” I quickly looked around for possible escape routes but tried to remain calm. 😆
