Hi hivers. How are you?
I went to Harborland, one of my favorite areas in Kobe, Japan.
On my way there, I saw several character shops. Hello Kitty said “Hi”. Snoopy and his friends were playful and the Sylvanian Families wanted to welcome me home. Totorro didn’t seem up for a photo but was the closest to my destination. While I didn’t mind browsing through the stores a bit, I really wanted to head to Maccha House. I took a few snaps of the characters and went to enjoy some lovely green tea with traditional Japanese sweets. 🍵

The Maccha House Experience

At the entrance, a big menu welcomed me. My taste buds were awakened from that point. There were so many options. I kept my calm, entered and check out the menu in closer details. They had both English and Japanese menus. The parfaits and icecream looked tempting but I opted for something more traditional. I ordered “Jobetsugi Matcha” which came with some sweets. It wasn’t too sweet and wasn’t too bitter. It paired well with the sweets.

Ambience and Decor

The atmosphere was very relaxing. The colors were calming. Maybe all seats had a matcha color. I noticed that the lampshades were designed like the traditional whisks that are used to make the tea. They were beautifully designed.

The sweets were so soft and delicious. They were mochi-like. With my hands clasped over the warm cup, sipping on matcha while savoring the taste of the sweets, was a heart-warming experience.

How do you like your matcha?
