The new downvote is more like every post and comment you do gets nuked by a whale with a higher rep so you get to watch your rep go further down with every post you do, and one of those nice reps in the 70's is soon a thing of the past.

As is earning anything from your posts, because even if you get 200 upvotes and the whale doesn't have enough downvote power to wipe all your rewards, he just gets an entire curation trail to downvote you.
