I really have mixed feelings about this subject.
Yes, the Tour de France has taken a blow by the massive EPO usage in 'the Lance Armstrong years. There were some Dutch cyclists that won mountain stages back then that also admitted to have used blood doping later on.

And yes, I have my doubts when I watch some mountain stages. Although the checks have become more frequently and unannounced through the whole year I do think some riders will take 'things'. I just think that they have made new things that they aren't able to discover or they just take enough to stay below the limit.

What I don't agree with is that you create an uneven playing field by selecting just a few riders that need to get up at night before a race the next day.

These unequal treatment is food for discussions and assumptions. Would Vingegard have missed that corner if he didn't have to wake up at night and maybe was a bit sharper.
I personally don't think so, but we will never know.

Yes, they should try to find riders that use prohibited stuff, but not at all costs.
