"As a historical novel, Kate Atkinson has portrayed us the brutality of war. War broke out, how many people had to die as a result of it? Not only did it directly affect the people involved in the war, but the war also spread many horrors to those who stayed behind. Nui feared for the future, the pain when relatives no longer, shocked to wonder where the war will go."
