With a number of big trades seeing the West add more superstars where does this leave the landscape of the NBA?

We have seen some big move already happening to the western conference seeing both Jimmy Butler and Paul Goerge both leaving the eastern conference to join an already stacked West. Paul Goerge joined the Oklahoma City Thunder and Russell Westbrook while Jimmy Butler joined the Minnesota Timberwolves and Karl-Antony Towns. These moves are an obvious attempt to try and challenge the super-team that is the Golden State Warriors.
Well, the East still has the Caveliers. There is such an overwhelming consensus that the West is stronger than the East and now the East seems even weaker! At this point, you start to wonder what the point of having two different conferences are. But that is just my opinion on the matter, what do you think?
My opinion is that there should at least be some sort of rebalance of the teams according to the conference. This might not be correct geographically for some of the teams, this will at least ensure competitiveness evenly distributed amongst the league.
Most barbershop arguments maintain that accomplishments in the East don't matter as much because it isn't as hard as the West and they aren't necessarily wrong and because of that I think the NBA should do something about that
