Have you ever thought about the phase Do It Yourself. I suppose we don't actually always say it like that, we just say DIY. I think there is a real power in doing things for yourself.
When I think about DIY I usually think about homesteading and building things. That may not always be the case. I am sure there are many different things that could fall under the category DIY.
In my world I try to do DIY things all the time. I even try to make how to videos on youtube and Dtube. I think that there is a real freedom when we learn to do things for ourselves and we aren't just locked into "the machine".
We often lost track of how "inside" we are until we try to do something for ourselves. We find that we lack the skills and the knowledge to do some of the simplest, and most necessary things in life.
When we take that leap into doing things for ourselves there is real growth. When we take control of our own situations and make things happen for ourselves....that is amazing.
I wonder if people are actually subconsciously drawn to do it yourself projects because our minds know that it is what is best for us. I wonder if our very genetic code knows that we are capable of doing things, but we just aren't. So we are pulled toward it like a magnet.
I am waist deep in DIY these days. As a homesteader, a nomad, a knife builder....I am learning new skills everyday. I am currently sorting out a rough idle on our suburban. I have to learn to skills to even diagnose it.
