Whoa! That first step was a doozy! Yesterday was a huge day. It was the largest single step forward in this entire adventure. We bought a new van, and sold our suburban!!
We knew that the suburban was not the right tool for the job anymore. All of the kids are rapidly becoming the size of adults, and it was getting kind of cramped. The car was leaking oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid. It had a an exhaust leak, and it had a random misfire. I think we actually...rocked it til the wheels fell off.
We had to make a choice about what to do with it, because it was not running well enough to sell to someone. We had several options, but one was starting to really stand out to us. We were done putting money into....so we were going to scrap it.
We made some calls and had a good idea of how much we could get from scrapping it, and we also called a salvage place that would buy it for more so they could part it out.
Yesterday, we were praying through and asking YHWH for a win, and sure enough this popped up. We had never seen this before, and we had been looking high and low! So we made the decision to drive an hour and a half to go see this van and maybe buy it.
It was glorious. First, we were on an adventure (which was really needed), and we were traveling on roads that we had never been on before. We found this van that wasn't leaking anything!!! That alone was a win haha.
The looks of the van are not what it is about. In fact it is pretty beat up, but that will keep Stacie D's new dents pretty hidden haha. The goal was the mechanical aspect. It runs amazing, drives great, and stops even better.
So now we are onto the adventure! There are a few more things that we need. We are going to get a trailer hitch put on, and get some stuff put into storage. Other than that....the road is calling.
Be well
