I cannot believe the view we have had. The other day we were melting in South East, North Carolina... So we left. I drove until the air temperature felt better.
Where we ended up was in Ashville, North Carolina. It feels good here, and not just the temperature but the people. We have been nearly all over the United States, and this is the first time I have never wanted to leave some place.
As soon as we started to get close, we could see the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Every person we have talked to has be super friendly. The whole place is amazing.
We stopped to sleep at a Pilot Truck Stop just outside of Ashville. Not five miles down the road we found this cute little park that was next to a river and a dam. We spent the whole day under a big tree in the shade.
I got the ol' stove out and made everyone fried potatoes. It was a nice treat. Eating a hot meal in cool air.
I even rolled out a sleeping bag and took a nap. While we went hiking a bit, we walked up and crossed the dam. This was the view. ... It was where Heaven met Earth. I cannot believe the view. It was absolutely perfect!
