This is my view this evening as I sit and take an account of the week that has passed. Not that I can change anything, but to sort of make sense of it all.
Living as a nomad, and loving the van life, I am appreciating the opportunity we have to enjoy time with family.
Stacie D's family is great, and I even have some extended family around here as well. I don't get to see my fancy sister as much as I would like, but our time together is always nice.
The week feels like it was packed with #lifehappening. It included a nice dinner out, a presidential debate, various different exercise routines, meditation, minor tension, and a lot of peace.
This fire is really slowing me down and making me appreciate the life that I have. Lately the "news" has been filled with more death and sickness than usual. I get that we are watching things happen, but I can't seem to get on board with the negativity.
I am taken back by the words I have read this week. Now today we found out that President Trump and his wife both tested positive for a form of COVID. I am not surprised by the news, but surprised by the reaction.
I have never witnessed someone just simply hating another person. I mean, the world is full of hate, but how can someone cheer for someone else to get sick and hopefully die.
I wish the feeling I have out by this fire could last into tomorrow. Everyday seems to be filled with the same sense of darkness in our world. It is almost like we have completely forgotten how to exist. How to be humans. How to be one.
There is an unbelievable amount of separation. People trying to divide people because of money, color, geography, culture, or even which blockchain they prefer.
What happened to letting people make their own decisions? When did it become common practice to voice our opinions into someone else's life. To inject ourselves into the lives of strangers as if we know them personally.
We seem to be caught in a sort of group think situation. That we are either all in with an idea or we are against it. Why not let people just be themselves and not respond. If we don't agree, we just move on. The likely hood of someone being actually hurt by something someone said online is very small.
It doesn't fail though. Everyday, I wake up and start with all sorts of social media or "news". I like to be informed of general things going on. I make the choice to be involved, but only until I don't anymore.
Sitting by the fire reminds me that everything I see or participate in is a choice. I don't have to do anything. I could choose to just exist. These last 6 weeks we have gone over 1,000 miles. I have had great and random conversations with strangers. I did 't have even one negative encounter.
It is times like these that remind me that what we see on the surface isn't necessarily what is underneath.
Tomorrow we take a day of rest, a Sabbath. A time to put the past away and prepare for whatever comes. A chance to reset.
I think we could all us a bit of a reset.
Be well
