When it comes to cars we have hit the jackpot. Back in 2009 we bought this 2005 Chevy Suburban. We had a rapidly growing family and we needed something that would be awesome to take with us when we moved. We were leaving our hometown and moving to Wisconsin for a job. We heard there was snow, so there ya go!
It has had it's bumps and bruises, but over all it has been super reliable. We moved up to Wisconsin and we were able to really keep up with the maintenance. It was Stacie D's (@freedomtowrite) mom mobile. That is..until we moved to the homestead in Missouri.
When we got to Missouri we settled on a piece of land and started homesteading. It took us two and a half months to build our house, so we slept in the Suburban. Sure it was uncomfortable, but it was just what we needed. It really held it's own, especially after we were in our terrible car accident.
Just a month after moving to Missouri we were hit buy someone that ran through a stop sign. They hit us in the side door and the front of the truck bed, and then it flipped us off of the road. It was my dream truck. It was a 1997 F350 4 door 4x4. So after the accident, the suburban had to pull extra duty.
So not only was it the daily driving mom mobile, and our home, and now it was our utility rig. I had to start using the Suburban to haul material to build the house. I also had to use it for cutting firewood, and all other things the were work related. Crap, I took this rig where it should not have been...more than a couple of times.
Besides the general condition of the rig, I really took care of it. It runs and drives awesome..until about 3 weeks ago. It started spitting and sputtering. It started randomly misfiring and running like garbage. I had all of the codes read, and it turns out that it could potentially be the O2 sensor. Before I changed the sensor though I checked everything. I checked all of the plugs, wires, coils, mass air flow sensor etc. I finally just bought the sensor.
So today it came in the mail and I got a chance to put it in. I am currently trying to get the computer to reset. The picture is of me actually trying to reset it while sitting in the library parking lot. I read so many different things about how to really get it to reset, but nothing was working. It is currently sitting in the garage completely unhooked. Hopefully it will really be reset by tomorrow.
The funny thing about all of this was that we were potentially going to get to see @papa-pepper this week, and he is also having trouble with his rig. check it out here
I hope they have their issues all sorted out. I know that I am patiently waiting for this thing to reset. I'm not sure what is going to happen with the ol' suburban, but I think we might sell it. Once I get it all fixed and running like a top again. We are looking to get a shuttle and use it for our nomad rig. I think that our time together may be coming to an end.....
Be well
