Stacie D and I love to watch movies everyday, that is what we really enjoy as a date night. So last night we jumped into a documentary called Jim and Andy. It was all about Jim Carrey and the movie Man On The Moon.
The movie was all about the back stage antics of Jim Carrey as he was actually turning into Andy Kaufman. It was amazing to see how in depth he was willing to go. He stayed in character all the time. I would even say that he lost himself while filming the movie.
As Jim was being interviewed to talk about the footage, he was really tearing down what was happening and giving us a look inside. When the movie was all done, he said he had a hard time remember who he was. He was thrown back into his "real" life, but couldn't remember how he felt about it.
He went on to talk about us as humans living as characters, which completely lines up with what I have been saying myself for a few years. It went on and continued to describe our journeys as humans and the characters we play.
I believe that we are spiritual beings on a human journey not humans on a spiritual journey. I believe that there is more to us than we realize. When we are first born we are a blank slate. Then the family we are born into gives us a name, a location, a title, a religion or belief system. From that point on we live out that character.
I believe there is a moment in our lives when we become awake to the fact that we are living as characters and can actually change. We can make any change we want. Looking back I can see several changes that I have made, and look forward to who I might be in the future.
When it comes to our own personal thoughts and beliefs we are often tethered by society rules, or rules for the game that our character is playing. So if we were to actually say what we were thinking, then it could have an impact on the role and game we are playing. I am pretty sure that only Stacie D really knows who I am...and that's ok.
