Above: me on my boat. No longer trying to trade Steem for profit. Just fishing and letting my Steem grow.
I am pretty sure that the outcome of Steem / Steemit in 1 year from now will be binary; either 1 or 0... something or nothing. I have a hunch that it will be something, but hey, i am publishing on Steemit so my opinion, like most people's here is just a skoach biast! Anyway, for the sake of argument, let's say that Steem is still worth between 0.50 Cents and $5.00 (aka Something).
In my experience with trading, I would rather have my money locked up in Steem Power and be profiting from the massive dilution taking place over the distribution faze of Steem / Steemit.
I have tried to trade things before and it's tough. I think that technical trading is tough to do consistently. To me, the charts are just a bunch of bullshit (Sorry). I am more a fundamental guy.
The fundamental questions that I ask are these:
Yes! Steemit pays for content, comments, and curation. (and if you don't have a least 1 huge advantage over reddit, twitter, and the big bad FB, then you can not defeat their existing network effect advantage.)
Yes! (well I hope so, truthfully it is not as parabolic as I expected. However these expectations were obviously unrealistic.) I know that I resisted bitcoin when it was at 5$ and then at 10$ and then capitulated and got in at 30$. If you are reading this, and you do not hold Steem Power, I think that there will be a point where you just say 'I believe' and jump in.
Back to trading Steem versus holding Steem...
Holding is soooo simple. SIMPLE. You buy it and it grows. It grows every 3 second block. The block has to pay out the steem that it creates. And it pays out a lot of Steem to Steem Power Holders.
As you can see in the table above (credited to @hisnameisolllie) and the following article: https://steemit.com/steemit/@hisnameisolllie/steem-dilution-rate-explained-currently-much-higher-than-you-might-think (please read and upvote)
...Steem supply will increase by 346% in the first year.
Most of that Steem is going to be funneled into the wallets of Steem Power Holders. If you have 100 Steem Power now you will have (I think) 450 Steem Power in one year. Simple.
Now compare that to the task of active trading... reading those charts and trying to increase your wealth by 350%... It's tough. Trading is tough.
Conclusion: Hold your Steem Power and go fishing.
