Hi! Our community has clarified the guidelines for posts. To quote this, "Remember: no illegal content, plagiarism, or blatant spam!"

When posts have linked sources, we do not consider them plagiarism or spam, and thus permit them within our community. When you claim that it is "frowned upon by the community," you are not speaking on behalf of our specific community, of which you are not (yet) a member, as you did not join the community - although are always welcome to do so.

Now, in the understanding that copying and pasting content from other sources, even when the sources are identified, does not take as much time/effort as original content, we have already adjusted our rewards to reflect this: we reward the minimum 1 HSBI and a small curation vote (10-15%) compared to original content, which typically receives higher rewards. It does not require any additional adjustments by outside actors.

We maintain this position because we believe that sharing content from other sources is an important aspect of social media, and therefore does provide some value. There are users on Hive who would otherwise not see the shared media if it were not posted and properly sourced here.

If you wish to provide your opinion and participate in our curation, feel free to reach out to us and we'll certainly openly consider your thoughts and position(s) for curation, as we continually expand in scope. After all, we always remain open to opinions and find value in different points of view. However, please do not preemptively attempt to speak on behalf of the community and to control how it chooses to reward its users.
