It was a trap! Of course it was. Player has been shown the whole preparation. But thats a perfect occasion to face your nemesis, isnt it? Isolated, on a small ship... All u need to do is strike. But that would end the game there and then and its barely 3rd chapter. I know - lets come up with some contrivance and mcguffin to undo it, so we can drag the story out more. How does psychology work? Doesnt matter, its wizardry world anyway - well call it the Force.
Additionally well have the chance to get back at the traitor, tie his loose end into a noose and explore that weird monolith in the ships basement.
