Happy and blessed day to the family of steemit, especially to steemchurch@steemchurch and sirknight@sirknight for his initiative of #celestialchallenge

Today's theme is the darkness that happened at the time of crucifying Jesus

Source

In the Temple of Jerusalem darkness filled the Sanctum Sanctum symbolizing the holy place where Jehovah dwells. On the Throne of Grace, the grace of God put sinful man before God and was judged there. Once a year during the Day of Atonement the High Priest pierced the thick veil and sprinkled the Throne of Grace with blood to make atonement for sins.

The darkening took place "between the sixth hour and the ninth (or ninth) hour", that is between noon and three in the afternoon, since the Jews counted the hours since sunrise (at 6 o'clock in the morning) ). Immediately afterwards Jesus expired, and the veil of the Sanctuary was torn from top to bottom (that is, the curtain that separated the holy place from the Temple of the Most Holy Place or Sancta Sanctorum, where the High Priest entered only once a year). Mateo is the only one who adds that there was a great tremor that caused the rocks to split and to open the tombs.

Matthew, Mark and Luke tell us that a sudden, strange and mysterious darkness settled on the scene of Calvary. It was a darkness at midday, a darkness with the presence of the sun while the sun was shining brightly. Under normal conditions light is antagonistic to darkness. You can not bring darkness to extinguish the light, but the light can extinguish the darkness. However, the darkness at that noon on Calvary extinguished the sun at midday! What astonishing thing. God made the earth tremble.

This mysterious darkness continued for three hours and could not have been the result of an eclipse of the sun. It was in time of the Passover of the Jews, which was always observed when there was a full moon, when eclipses of the sun are totally impossible.

There are cases in history when darkness sometimes precedes an earthquake when a wet mist obscures the sun and gives the impression that it is the end of the day. But what happened at Calvary was not a simple phenomenon. There are also no signs in this place indicating that it is a sandstorm.

This was a sudden and great darkness. Suddenly, suddenly, suddenly the whole scene at Calvary closes and a death silence covered the earth and a miraculous darkness appeared quickly three hours later just before Christ died.

Matthew 27.45 "From the sixth hour there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour"

Mark 15.33: "When the sixth hour came, there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour."

Luke 23.44: "It was about the sixth hour when, when the sun went up, there was darkness over the whole earth until the ninth hour."

The only way to try to explain this "darkness" on earth when Christ died must be to accept the fact that it was supernatural. God did it and He simply did not tell us how He did it. There was a visible suspension in the order of nature. The Great First Cause took a step in His creation and caused "darkness" to suddenly cover the earth.
