Much more than a year ago I did the Retro Retro Review of the first game of this little saga and a week later I was writing the review of its sequel, I had at least a little more than half of the review written but, I made the classic mistake of not having saved the file correctly, so I lost much of what I had already written. That made me so upset that I erased the little that was left (very stupid of me) and I told myself that in a few more days I would do it again from the beginning, but I didn't, and months and many months went by and I never did it, but I think it's time to finish this saga once and for all, but this time I will save everything correctly.
Fortunately for those who have not played their first game, Alundra 2 is not a direct sequel, so we are facing a completely different story and with a new protagonist, the only thing these two games have in common is their world of magic and fantasy, so there is no need to play the first Alundra, although they should play it, because it is an excellent title. Although personally I would have liked them to continue the story of the previous protagonist, since this new character is not as good as Alundra herself (the protagonist of the first title is called the same as the video game).
The plot of Alundra 2, unlike the first title, has a bit more relaxed, that is, Alundra had a plot that could be said to be aimed at a more adult audience, since despite being a video game where we find ourselves in a fantasy world, all the events that happened in this game had a more dramatic tone and much more serious situations, instead Alundra 2 chose to include more comedy and not so dramatic situations and maybe that's one of the main reasons why people didn't like this game so much, besides the change of the main character.
But anyway, in this adventure our main protagonist is Flint, he is a young man whose parents were killed by pirates and since then he has dedicated his life to hunt them to death (I think the origin of this character is the only thing with great level of drama in the whole game). Returning to the story, we are in a typical video game kingdom and as expected the typical video game cliché villain, Mephisto, appears. This villain is able through his magic power, to transform animals into robotic beings (Very similar to what Dr.Eggman did in Sonic). But besides this, Flint is going to help the princess of this kingdom to find her missing father, who is obviously the King, since Mephisto knows his whereabouts, and he must also defeat this villain, of course.
Alundra 2 made a generational jump, since its prequel was in 2D, the developers chose to make the sequel in what started to be fashionable at that time, the 3D, but of course, is the famous 3D of that time, that is, we are before a game where you can see a lot of polygons, both in characters and in the scenario, the classic of the old but beloved PlayStation 1.
In itself, Alundra 2 has not aged that badly, but I think it didn't make a proper generational jump, added to factors such as: change of character and history, made fans reject it even more in the past. But if there is something positive I have to say about this title, it is that at least the animations, taking into account the limitations of the graphic engine they used for the development of this videogame, don't look so bad, in fact, due to the humorous tone of Alundra 2, many of these animations have features that are intentionally to create funny moments in the plot.
The amount of enemies has an acceptable level of variety, and like our main character, they also have a set of animations that don't look bad either, but of course, as far as textures are concerned, Alundra 2 is quite deficient in this aspect, so in many occasions the game looks really bad.
The soundtrack of Alundra 2 is all we can expect from a game of this style, but compared to the first title, this sequel is quite disappointing in terms of the quality of its melodies, the melodies of Alundra 2, although they are good, do not have the same level of epicity or charisma as its prequel had, besides that, at least personally, I did not find any melody that is memorable, quite the opposite with the first Alundra. Although a positive aspect that I have to emphasize regarding the sound aspect, are the voices of the characters, because they are played by excellent voices in English and also each person has a type of voice that fits very well with the personality and appearance of the character itself.

Alundra could be considered a pretty clear inspiration for The Legend Of Zelda and I think the creators didn't try to hide this, since the main character of the first game is an elf just like Link and the world where the events of the first game occur is equally a magical and fantasy world. Alundra 2 like its prequel maintains the same characteristics of an Action RPG, so if you have already played a game of The Legend of Zelda or you have played the first Alundra, with this sequel you will be familiar with those kind of mechanics, because it maintains that typical mode of the Action RPG and it doesn't innovate adding new forms of playability.
Therefore we are in front of a game that, in terms of learning difficulty curve is quite low, it is a game from which we will adapt quite easily to its controls, and we will do the typical things related to this genre of videogames such as: exploring all kinds of scenarios, completing the classic dungeons full of enemies and in which we will find some or some very useful items, besides that we will solve a lot of puzzles, which vary in difficulty, but none of them is difficult enough for us to get stuck trying to solve it. In general, Alundra 2 follows the classic parameters of an Action RPG, which is very normal, but it is still fun and in a few hours we will have completed it.
Alundra 2 is undoubtedly much inferior to its prequel, besides the fact that we didn't follow the story of the first protagonist, the plot of this game was more focused on comedy, which in itself is not bad, but being a sequel to a game that had a slightly more mature and serious plot, having such a big change, it's quite strange. Besides the fact that it doesn't have any connection to the previous title, I think that if it had been given another name instead of "Alundra 2", people would have liked it more.
